A new trend going on around the Ole Miss Campus is a scavenger hunt website called geocaching.com. Geocaching is considered a real-world treasure hunting game. The object of the game is to locate hidden objects, called geocaches, using a GPS device and then share your experiences online with others.
The difficulty ranges from one, being the easiest to find, through six, being the hardest to find. What you find in the geocaching case depends on the person who created that cache. The items inside the cases of the cache’s range from gift cards, if you are the first to find it, to absolutely nothing.
“Yea I trekked through poison ivy and dirt, but was able to find the cache and although I traveled through all that I still had fun!” This is what Ole Miss student Alyssa Willis had to say about her experience with using geocaching. She also informed that while looking for one it is best to have a smart phone with the Google maps app on, for that it is easier to locate the cache.
“I had a fun time using this. I mean it’s not something I would do every night, but it gives you something else to do if you don’t feel like going out to the bars.” This is what Ole Miss student Dylan DeWitt had to say about his experience. Dylan also went on to say that a lot of the caches are located within a relative distance, which makes it something quick and fun to do.
Also, this is a nationwide thing, so if you are bored or want something new to try, go check out geocaching.com.
